Chapter 1: The Wedding Day

Chapter 1: The Wedding Day

Meera's POV

"Meera, the priest is calling you. Are you ready?"

"Yes, Bhabhi, but I don't know why I am so nervous."

"It happens, Meera; we all were nervous like this at our weddings."

"But Bhabhi," Ruchi says, holding Meera's hand, "Meera is more nervous; you see how she is shivering."

"Oh, Ruchi, this is our Meera; she is so innocent. All this is new for her," said Kirti Bhabhi, and she applied kajal behind Meera's ear for good luck. "And anyway, Kunal looks at Meera with so much love." Meera smiled shyly.

Author POV

After that, Kirti and Ruchi took Meera to the stairs, and then Meera's brothers and her parents came to take Meera to the stage.

Meera's family became very emotional after seeing Meera because today their little doll was going with them towards her new life as a bride.

Not many people were invited to the wedding; only family members and a few close friends were present.

Meera went to the stage, and just as Kunal extended his hand to hold Meera's, all the lights went off.

Then Meera's father asked Vivek and Rohit to check the lights, and then some photos of Meera with some other boy appeared on a big screen. In those photos, it appeared that Meera was with that boy in some hotel room.

Everyone's face turned pale, and Kunal's mother held Meera's hand tightly and made her stand in the middle of everyone.

"Who were you with?" Kunal's mother shouted at Meera and asked, "Behind the back of your parents, with how many such boys have you been roaming around like this?"

Just then, Meera's sister-in-law (Kirti) came, and Kunal's mother released Meera's hand. "How dare you say this? Meera cannot do anything like this! Aren't you ashamed, being a woman, to speak about another girl like this?" Saying this, Kirti hugged Meera.

"Bha... Bhabhi, th... this is n... not me. I... I don't know who who... to... took such photos of... of mine. This is not me, Aunty. This is not me," Meera said while trying to hold Kunal's mother's hand, but Kunal's mother snatched her hand away. "Don't hold me with those cheap hands of yours," Kunal's mother said to Meera.

Meera held Kunal's hand. "K... Kunal, you... you trust me, ri... right? Pl... please tell your... your mother that... that all... all this is a... a lie. You... you know that I... I can... cannot do an... anything like this; you know that I can n... ne... never d... do anything like this."

Kunal took his hand out of Meera's. Meera saw him crying. "How can you do this to me, Meera? If you did not want to marry me, then you should have told me once, and I would have refused this marriage myself. I did not know, Meera, that you are such a girl."

Kunal's mother said, "It is good that the truth about this girl came in front of us at the right time; otherwise, this girl would have ruined my son's life."

Meera went to her parents. "Mo... Mom, D... Dad, ple... ase tell Kunal and Aunty th... that I ca... cannot d... do th... this. You... you kn... know your Meera. Please t... tell Kunal that I am... am not the... the girl i... in the pho... to. Mom, Dad, please s... see, Kunal is fee... feeling that this girl is me. Please tell Kunal that... that your Meera cannot do this."

Meera's parents said, "Please forgive us, Neelam ji [Kunal's mother], if we had known that Meera would do this, then we would not have agreed to this relationship," they said, folding their hands in front of Kunal's parents and Kunal's grandparents.

"Now what is the use of folding hands? Your daughter has done what she had to do, but now she cannot do anything because now this marriage cannot happen."

Kunal's parents left with Kunal. Everyone was just watching Kunal's family leaving, but Meera was just watching her parents. How did they trust everyone except their daughter?

Then Adarsh Malhotra and Sudha Malhotra came to Meera's parents and hugged them. "Veeraj, talk to Meera once. It's possible that what you both are thinking isn't true," Mr. Malhotra said to Meera's Dad.

Meera's mother started feeling dizzy and was about to fall when Adived made her sit on the chair next to her. Meera sat near her mother's feet. "Mom, do you think I can do this? Dad, you tell me, has your Meera ever done something that would make someone point a finger at the upbringing of her parents?"

Meera's parents did not say anything; they were just crying. Meera went to her brothers and said, "Bhaiya, please te... tell Mom and Dad t... that I did not do anything li... like this." Meera went to hold her brothers' hands, but both of Meera's brothers took back their hands and went to their parents. Meera was just looking at her family and how they left her when she needed them the most.

Meera was just looking at her family and how they also made her alone. Then Meera's aunt (Bua) came and, holding Meera's hand, pulled her towards herself. "Meera, aren't you ashamed of doing this? With how many such boys do you go behind your parents' back? I always used to tell Veeraj not to indulge his daughter so much, but you had gone mad in love with your daughter. Now the truth of your daughter has come out."

"Now who will marry such a girl, who is with someone today and with someone else tomorrow?" Then Meera's cousin sister came and, looking at Meera, said, "Let it go, Mom, she is like this. Don't spoil your reputation by talking to such a girl." And she pushed Meera. Meera was about to fall when Adived caught her.

At that very moment, Sudha ji came and, looking at Meera's Bua angrily, said, "We don't need to know from you how Meera is. We have full faith in our Meera."

"Sudha ji, you don't know this girl. If she wants to, she can trap your son also!"

"Yes Aunty, please keep Adi away from this girl. Please, you don't know her, she just looks innocent but is very clever."

"SHUT UP. JUST SHUT UP! Now no one will say anything! I have been watching for a long time. Whoever comes to their mind, they say it to Meera and go away. You people should also ask Meera once what had happened."

Vivek came to Meera and, holding her hand, asked, "Meera, if you did not want to marry, then you should have told any of us once that you should not marry, that you love someone else. If you had just said it once, Meera, just once you had told us." Rohit came to Meera, "Meera, how can you do this? You are seeing how much has happened today. You are seeing what has happened to Mom and Dad. All this would not have happened if you had told us the truth. But, who is this boy, Meera, since when do you know him?"

"Rohit is asking something, Meera!" Vivek shouted at Meera. Meera started shivering at Vivek's loud voice and closed her eyes in pain.

"Have you all gone mad? Why are you all shouting at Meera without even listening to her?" Ritu said, looking at Rohit.

"We are just asking, Ritu," Rohit said.

"You all are not asking, you are just blaming her," Adived shouted.

Just then, Adived's parents came to Adived and asked, "Adi, will you agree to one thing I say? Will you marry Meera?" When Adived's parents asked, Adived looked at him. Everyone looked at them in shock.

"Adi," Adived's aunt and her daughter came in between and said, "Oh Sudha ji, how can you do this to your own son? Your son's life will be ruined! Yes Aunty, Adi does not deserve such a girl."

"First of all, my name is Adived. Stop saying Adi, Adi. 'Adi' I am only for my family, do you understand?"

Adived looked at his parents and nodded in yes. Mr. and Mrs. Malhotra were very happy. Then Meera's parents went to convince them that "this is not necessary," but Mrs. Malhotra stopped them.

"Ritu, Kirti, and Ruchi, my children, get Meera ready and bring her to the mandap (wedding canopy)."

They took Meera to the Bride's room and did her touch-up. Meanwhile, Adived was ready and waiting for Meera in the mandap.

Kriti, Ritu, and Ruchi brought Meera to the mandap, and Adived just kept looking at her with many emotions.
